What Loft works with.
Loft works with SMB shares, which is what most NAS boxes, Windows servers and Samba use. Here is what we have actually tested. If yours isn't on the list, it may well work. Run loft-gateway doctor and it will tell you.
What you need
- A NAS or server that shares folders over SMB 3. Loft requires SMB encryption by default, and a NAS without it can be allowed on your home network.
- A Linux machine at home for the gateway: x86_64 or arm64 with Python 3.12 or newer (Debian 13, Ubuntu 24.04 and current Raspberry Pi OS have it), or any machine that runs containers.
- For use away from home: a tunnel (for example Cloudflare Tunnel) or a port forward on your router. Neither is needed at home.
Tested NAS and servers

| Ubiquiti UniFi UNAS | Not tested yet | |
| TrueNAS SCALE | Not tested yet | |
| Windows Server (SMB) | Not tested yet | |
| Synology | Not tested yet | If you have one, run loft-gateway doctor and tell us how it went |
